July 18, 2019- Friedrich Launches Dedicated Spanish-Speaking Technical and Customer Service Line
SAN ANTONIO, Texas (July 18, 2019) –Friedrich Air Conditioning Co., a leading U.S.-based manufacturer of heating, cooling and other room air conditioning products, has launched a Spanish-speaking Technical and Customer service line, making it among the first in the industry to offer a dedicated service specifically for Spanish-speaking customers.

The Spanish-speaking line is available by calling Friedrich’s main customer service line, 1-800-541-6645, and selecting option 9. It will operate Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. CT, the same hours and days as Friedrich’s other customer service phone line.

“The goal is to help ensure all of our installers, contractors, and customers get the assistance and support they need, quickly and easily,” said Sean Olds, Friedrich Chief Operations Officer. “Friedrich’s focus is to continually improve the service experience for our partners and customers, and this is a big part of that commitment.”

The launch of a Spanish-speaking Technical and Customer service line is another example of Friedrich’s dedication to personalized customer service. Rather than using an automated or third-party resource that is typical for today’s industry, all Friedrich’s Technical Assistance employee experts are located at the company’s San Antonio headquarters and have years of experience in the field and fielding calls and inquiries from customers.

Friedrich’s customer service team also has a close connection to the company’s product and engineering managers and state-of-the-art onsite lab. That makes Friedrich one of the only air conditioning companies to make such a strong commitment–not only to onsite testing, quality control and product innovation–but to customer support.

January 15, 2019- Easy Does It: Ductless System Installation and Maintenance Take Giant leap Forward With Friedrich FastPro
Friedrich's re-engineered product lines featuring FastPro makes "going ductless" quicker and easier than ever before

San Antonio, TX (January 15, 2019) – As a highly efficient, all-season HVAC solution, ductless systems are increasingly popular for conditioning air faster, maintaining accurate temperatures and reducing energy costs. Now, Friedrich Air Conditioning Co., a leading U.S.-based manufacturer of heating, cooling and other air conditioning products, is making installation and servicing residential and commercial ductless systems easier than ever.

Launching at 2019 AHR Expo, Friedrich's re-engineered Floating Air Pro® and Floating Air Premier ductless solutions featuring FastPro™ are designed with the HVAC contractor and installer in mind. Friedrich FastPro makes ductless installation and maintenance much simpler, opening up new business opportunities for the trade and decreasing the time needed to install ductless systems and perform maintenance by as much as 50 percent. It also reduces hassles, allowing contractors and installers to offer ongoing service and maintenance plans with confidence.

"Friedrich FastPro solves major pain points for the trades when it comes to ductless system installation and maintenance," said TJ Wheeler, Friedrich Vice President of Marketing and Product Management. "Removing these barriers will help continue to accelerate ductless system adoption while opening up ongoing service contract revenue streams for contractors."

Friedrich FastPro reduces complications by allowing the interior unit's blower wheel and drain pan module to be removed and re-installed as one component versus having to perform multiple steps. Given that ductless systems can be configured with multiple indoor units, this is a major time-saver that also decreases the chance of mistakes or missed steps. It also helps ensure customer satisfaction.

"Let's face it, most customers would prefer not to have their system down for the day while needed maintenance is performed," said Wheeler. "FastPro is convenient not only for the contractor, but it gets customers up and running quickly as well."

For both the trades and ductless customers, maintenance is key to ensuring ductless system equipment operates at peak performance. Removing dust, dirt and mold from the blower wheel, drain pan and vanes can prevent it from circulating into the room and maximize ductless efficiencies. Friedrich recommends scheduled maintenance at least every six months and more frequently in areas where equipment is running day in and day out.

September 13, 2018- Friedrich VRP Lands Gold for HVAC Innovation
The award-winning solution is named one of best new products by Consulting-Specifying Engineer

San Antonio, TX (September 13, 2018) – It's the new gold standard for innovative HVAC solutions: Friedrich’s VRP® (Variable Refrigerant Packaged) Heat Pump system has landed top honors as one of the best new products of 2018 by Consulting-Specifying Engineer in the "HVAC: Air Movement and Compressors” category.

"The Friedrich VRP is a game changer for the industry because it offers so many benefits in an easy-to- install, highly efficient package," said TJ Wheeler, Friedrich VP of Marketing and Product Management. "Engineers in particular recognize and appreciate true innovation, so we are very honored to be selected for this award.”

The Gold award from Consulting-Specifying Engineer is the latest in a string of honors that the Friedrich VRP has earned. It also landed a Silver Award for Excellence in the Indoor Air Quality category by The Air Conditioning Heating & Refrigeration News (ACHR News) magazine. Friedrich VRP was named an Innovation Award finalist in the Indoor Air Quality category by AHR (International Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigeration) Expo when the system was first unveiled.

VRP has earned notoriety as a total HVAC solution that utilizes Precision Inverter compressor technology, giving it exceptional performance, increased efficiencies (up to 20 SEER and 13.0 EER) and quieter operation. VRP incorporates patents-pending make-up air and sophisticated humidity control with onboard sensors that monitor and adjust compressor speeds to enhance dehumidification. Friedrich’s FreshAire system™ helps building owners meet ASHRAE 62.1-2013 for conditioned fresh air, bringing in up to 70 CFM of conditioned, MERV 8-filtered outside air, without the cost or complexity associated with large dedicated outside air systems.

Friedrich VRP’s new dehumidification capabilities, unveiled earlier this year, also helps solve a major issue for high humidity regions, where warm, moist air can cause significant maintenance issues and increase mold, unpleasant odors and allergens. By utilizing a hot-gas reheat circuit, the dehumidification option borrows energy that is wasted in a typical air conditioning cycle and uses it to reheat the return air so the unit can continue to dehumidify longer. Combined with the other indoor air quality advantages that come standard, VRP is a simple, flexible, easy to install and maintain in-closet solution that eliminates the need for costly and complicated large, specialized systems.

"At Friedrich, we’re always pushing the limits on how we can improve air quality while delivering outstanding comfort,” said Wheeler. "Our new VRP dehumidification option has made what was already an exceptional air conditioning solution even better.”

January 22, 2018- Exceptional Indoor Air Quality Now Made Easier

Friedrich launches FreshAire PTAC and new VRP dehumidification option at 2018 AHR Expo

San Antonio, TX (January 22, 2018) – For the lodging, multi-family and commercial building industry, it's sure to be a breath of fresh air when Friedrich, a leading U.S.-based manufacturer of heating, cooling and other air conditioning products, launches its new PTAC system at this year's AHR Expo, Jan. 22-24.

Called Friedrich FreshAireTM PTAC, the company is once again pioneering what's possible for achieving exceptional indoor air quality by introducing the first-ever PTAC to combine an energy efficient inverter compressor with the ability to bring in conditioned make-up air (MUA).

Friedrich FreshAire PTAC is a game-changer for being able to meet ASHRAE 62.1-2013 standards, which require bringing in a specific amount of outdoor air and providing MERV 8 filtration–something that in the past only could be achieved with much larger, more complex and expensive systems. The new Friedrich unit is the only PTAC to incorporate a MERV 8 filter for outdoor air, greatly reducing air particles, allergens and other air impurities brought into the space. Unlike other PTAC units on the market that ineffectively try to improve air quality with inferior secondary refrigeration systems that also increase energy consumption, Friedrich's FreshAire PTAC makes it convenient for property owners to deliver outstanding indoor air quality, easily and efficiently.

"FreshAire PTAC not only saves building owners money over the long run, but also greatly increases the comfort of occupants," said TJ Wheeler, Friedrich VP of Marketing and Product Management. "We're proud to be able to offer a simple, convenient and reliable solution designed to meet the highest standards for indoor air quality in the industry today."

Easy to install and maintain, cost effective and simple to operate, Friedrich is the first large-scale air conditioning manufacturer to incorporate inverter compressor technology into a PTAC system. Thanks to Friedrich's Precision InverterTM compressor with variable speed technology, the units are designed to deliver only the amount of cooling or heating needed for the room at any given time, saving energy and money while maintaining even, consistent temperatures. Other benefits include improved dehumidification as compared to single speed PTACs. The inverter compressor also operates quietly by eliminating the abrupt starts and stops to ensure the ultimate comfort of guests and residents.

FreshAire PTAC with Precision Inverter compressor technology makes it simple for property owners to get what they need: Friedrich offers just two capacity options that can deliver the lowest and highest capacity on the market.

Friedrich Introduces New Advanced Dehumidification Option for VRP

The inspiration behind Friedrich's FreshAire PTAC is based on the company's award-winning VRP® (Variable Refrigerant Packaged) Heat Pump system. Introduced in 2017, VRP also utilizes Precision Inverter Compressor technology that combines variable refrigerant flow technology with the convenience and simplistic design of a closet-mounted single packaged unit. The Friedrich VRP FreshAire system was named a 2017 AHR Expo finalist in the Indoor Air Quality category.

This year, Friedrich unveils a new dehumidification option for VRP solving a major issue for property owners in high humidity regions, like the gulf coast, south and mid-west, where warm, moist air can cause significant maintenance issues and increase mold, unpleasant odors and allergens.

By utilizing a hot-gas reheat circuit, the new VRP dehumidification option borrows energy that is wasted in a typical air conditioning cycle, and uses it to reheat the return air so the unit can continue to dehumidify longer. Combined with the exceptional make-up air capabilities and other indoor air quality advantages that come standard, VPR is a simple, flexible, easy to install and maintain in-closet solution that eliminates the need for costly and complicated large, specialized systems.

"At Friedrich, we're always pushing the limits on how we can improve air quality while delivering outstanding comfort," said Wheeler. "Our new VRP dehumidification option has made what was already an exceptional air conditioning solution even better."

January 22, 2018- Friedrich New Ductless Models Offer Optimal All-Season Efficiency
Top performing heat pump capabilities deliver great SEER ratings for heating or cooling

San Antonio, TX (January 22, 2018) – Texas–It's no secret that ductless systems have become increasingly popular in the U.S. in recent years for offering major advantages when it comes to conditioning air faster, maintaining more accurate temperatures and reducing energy costs.

While U.S. consumers are adopting ductless systems as effective cooling solutions, not as much attention has been paid to their heating capabilities. That's changing rapidly as ductless system manufacturers like Friedrich, a leading U.S.-based manufacturer of heating, cooling and other air conditioning products, unveil all season solutions that increase efficiency and offer optimal performance. At the 2018 AHR Expo, Friedrich will highlight its new ENERGY STAR® 9,000 and 12,000 Btu models, capable of delivering 28.0 SEER/12.5 HSPF, with low ambient heat pump operation down to -13 degrees F, as part of the company's J-Series ductless product line.

"Ductless systems are a fantastic option for customers who want exceptional heating and cooling performance and efficiency," said TJ Wheeler, Friedrich VP of Marketing and Product Management. "Ductless delivers great flexibility when it comes to installation, but also maximum comfort and cost-savings year-round."

Thanks to its Precision Inverter System, Friedrich ductless units also operate very quietly. This system makes changes in 1Hz increments, allowing the unit to run at variable speeds while delivering the most precise heating-cooling capabilities to maintain constant, desired temperatures. Great design also is key. Friedrich designed its ductless systems to be as sleek, slim and unobtrusive as possible, while still delivering extreme efficiency.

A strong business opportunity

For contractors, being able to offer customers the latest in ductless solutions is a major opportunity to grow business. Many municipality and energy companies, especially in the northwest and along the upper east coast, are offering outstanding rebates for energy efficient products like these, making it more attractive and affordable than ever for customers to consider installing ductless systems.

Manufacturers like Friedrich also are making a commitment to increasing knowledge and training for the ductless category. Friedrich's Advantage Program encourages top dealers to become part of a motivated team of industry professionals dedicated to the sale, installation and support of Friedrich ductless systems through product training, rewards and warranty benefits.

According to Wheeler, for contractors, that means there's no better time to get into the ductless business.

"We're seeing an increasing demand as customers realize the advantages ductless systems offer. That's driving a huge need for knowledgeable, trained contractors who can provide them with great solutions and service," said Wheeler. "With more options, incentives and support available, it's a great time to maximize the opportunity of the growing ductless market."

September 01, 2017- Friedrich Rushes 200 A/C Units to Aid Aransas County Emergency Responders in Wake of Hurricane Harvey Devastation

Local Officials Say Need for Aid is Huge in Small Coastal Communities Hit by Harvey

San Antonio, TX (September 01, 2017) – SAN ANTONIO, Texas– On Friday, 200 Friedrich Chill room air conditioners, totaling 10,400-pounds of window A/C units worth an estimated $55,000, will be loaded up for delivery to Rockport, a town almost completely devastated by Hurricane and Tropical Storm Harvey.

The Friedrich A/C units will be used by the Rockport Volunteer Fire Department, which is struggling to provide shelter for emergency responders in the area, including law enforcement officers, volunteer firefighters and emergency medical personnel and dispatchers, after many have lost their own homes and businesses. As a result, nearly 100 emergency responders are currently camped out in the tiny Rockport fire station, where conditions are exhausting, uncomfortable and cramped. The situation is similar across the county, in fire stations and police stations alike.

"The destruction is unfathomable and the community desperately needs help, so we’re doing everything we can to keep our local emergency responders in the area," said Gillian Tate, volunteer firefighter. "Those of us that still have homes standing in the area must get them up and running as soon as possible with water, showers, and air conditioning, to provide adequate shelter for our emergency responders so they can continue to provide assistance and support for so many here who need it."

Earlier this week, Tate posted a plea on Rockport Volunteer Fire Department’s Facebook page, asking for a donation of air conditioning units to help emergency responders throughout Aransas County to start rebuilding their own lives while they work around the clock to assist the community. Having witnessed the wrath of Harvey on so many local communities in horror, San Antonio-based Friedrich didn’t hesitate when it saw Rockport’s request for the large donation of air conditioners.

"Friedrich contacted us and asked, 'tell us what you need,’" said Tate. "I said we have an urgent need for 50 A/C units, but we could really use 200. They said, 'consider it done.’"

Because freight transportation to the area is severely limited due to the extensive storm damage, Friedrich employee volunteers are handling the transportation and delivery themselves, making the 175-mile journey to deliver the units directly to the Rockport Volunteer Fire Department. Local officials there will coordinate the distribution of the units to emergency responders throughout the county, based on individual needs.

"With a nearly 140-year history in Texas and so many strong ties to these communities, we are grateful to be able to lend a hand and hope that it will provide some relief to those who are suffering so much right now," said Chuck Campbell, CEO of Friedrich.

In the wake of Harvey’s devastation, small towns are doing what they can to combat a shortage of relief assistance. According to Tate, with the focus of efforts understandably concentrated in the Houston area, support from individuals and companies like Friedrich are now even more essential for smaller communities like Rockport.

"Our emergency responders are literally a lifeline to getting our communities back on their feet," said Gillian. "They are working around the clock so right now, there's people sleeping in the middle of the room while meetings are being held and we’re trying to get things accomplished. People are getting burned out and exhausted. For them to be able to help others, our first step has to be to get them back home. We simply can’t do that without this kind of support."

To learn more about donating or how to help provide assistance, visit the Rockport Volunteer Fire Department Facebook page.

July 21, 2017- Friedrich Ductless Systems Star in FYI's "You Can't Turn That into a House" Television Series
San Antonio, TX (July 21, 2017) – Take the wildest, wackiest, most challenging structures, and then imagine completely transforming them into beautiful, livable spaces.

That's the concept of FYI's new television series "You Can't Turn That Into A House," which premieres this month and airs Saturdays at 9:30 p.m. EST. The show highlights how unusual structures, like an old, abandoned industrial storage tank, can be turned into surprising, ingenious and luxurious dream homes.

Among many obstacles and challenges faced by "You Can't Turn That Into A House" creators included how to maximize comfort in these extraordinary structures. For that, they turned to Friedrich Air Conditioning Co., a leading manufacturer of air conditioners and other home environment products. Friedrich provided all the HVAC equipment for the show's 13 episodes, working hand-in-glove with the show's renovation team to install the right solution for these highly unique and customized spaces.

For each project, Friedrich provided a ductless HVAC system, which offers a scalable solution for additions, retrofit and renovation projects where complicated ductwork installation or re-routing is not feasible. Friedrich ductless systems also offer major advantages when it comes to conditioning air faster and maintaining more accurate temperatures. Because space was at a premium for all the "You Can't Turn That Into A House" retrofits, with some totaling less than 100 square feet, Friedrich ductless also provided a compact solution that didn't take away from the interior design.

Another challenge was the remoteness of some of the "You Can't Turn That Into A House" locations. With options of 115V up to 230V, Friedrich ductless systems can operate from a generator, which was a necessity for many of the projects. Thanks to Friedrich's Precision Inverter® technology, the active filtering of voltage keeps the incoming voltage steady to help maximize comfort.

"Each one of these projects is truly unique and different, which is why the flexibility of our ductless system was the perfect answer," said Chris Magee, Friedrich product expert. "It's an HVAC solution that can go where others simply can't."

While the network is keeping each project featured on "You Can't Turn That Into A House" under wraps until the episodes air, Magee says viewers are sure to be surprised by some of the unbelievable, eclectic projects that are hard for anyone to imagine living in, until they see the end results.

"The moral of the story is that what once used to be unthinkable when it comes to creating inhabitable, comfortable and beautiful spaces is now within reach, thanks to solutions like ductless HVAC systems," he said. "With ductless, if you can dream it, there's probably a way to cool and heat it."

About Friedrich ductless systems

Friedrich's two distinct lines of ductless system offerings are based on SEER efficiency. The company's mid-tier 16 SEER Floating Air Series comes in five models, with 115 volt and 230/208-volt heat pump capacity and is very competitively priced. Friedrich's top-tier line is the 20 SEER J Series, which is available in more than 1,000 multi-zone configurations, including wall-mounted, ceiling cassette and concealed duct models. This series is wide and deep, supporting up to eight interior zones with one outdoor unit and customers can choose from single-zone cooling models, single-zone heat pumps that cool and heat, and multi-zone heat pumps that cool and heat multiple rooms.

June 12, 2017- Friedrich Donates Air Conditioning Units to Help Provide Relief for Homeless Families in Rochester
San Antonio, TX (June 12, 2017) – Homeless families in Rochester, N.Y., will get additional relief this season, thanks to a generous donation from Friedrich Air Conditioning Company.

Friedrich has partnered with its local Rochester distributor, Johnstone Supply, to provide Friedrich Chill? room air conditioning units for 11 homes owned and managed by Tempro, a Rochester-based nonprofit organization that builds housing for homeless families. Tempro homes are leased by Monroe County and the county's Department of Social Services places families in need in the homes. Tempro provides the furnished homes with the aid of a social worker to help these families through the transition of homelessness to more permanent housing.

Tempro provides temporary housing assistance to approximately 140 homeless families and without support from Friedrich, the organization would not have been able to afford to cool the homes and ensure the comfort of those it serves during the hot weather season. "For homeless families working to get back on their feet, finding safe, temporary housing is challenging and stressful enough without also enduring the hot weather season with no relief," said Tempro President Jerry Zakalik. "That's why we are so grateful for this very generous donation and service to our community."

Already, contractors have installed one of the Friedrich Chill units in the first Tempro home, and the remaining 10 will be installed in the other residences in the coming weeks. In addition to the value of providing all the product, delivery and support at no cost, Friedrich's Chill units also are ENERGY STAR-qualified, which will help save money on energy and long-term operational costs. Other benefits of the Friedrich Chill line include powerful and quiet operation and environmentally sustainable features, such as R32 refrigerant with low Global Warming Potential.

As a father from one of the families living in a home where a new Chill unit was recently installed said, "It means so much to us to have a place to stay while we go through this challenge. To know someone really cares and is even installing air conditioners is just awesome."

As a leading U.S.-based manufacturer of air conditioners and other home environment products, Friedrich has a strong track record of giving back to local communities and causes, and the donation to Tempro marks the second major donation the company has made this season. In April, Friedrich donated and installed a ductless split air conditioning system in an orphanage near Piedra Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, where without cooling, indoor temperatures can spike up to a sweltering 120 degrees.

"We're proud to serve the community in this way and know that our products are providing great relief for those in need," said Wink Chapman, vice president of sales and marketing for Friedrich. "It's also fantastic to be able work with strong partners, like our Johnstone Supply distributor in the Rochester area, who share our commitment to support local communities."
