Job Summary


The HVAC Lab Technician is a technically and mechanically-skilled individual capable of modifying and building prototype air conditioning test units and performing airflow, motor heat rise, sound and other product safety tests. Responsibilities also include conducting calorimetric and psychrometric tests on prototype and production air conditioners according to industry standards. The technician also must be capable of physically moving, lifting and manipulating air conditioning units in and out of test apparatuses and rooms. This position is for our second shift, hours are 3:00PM – 11:30PM.

Responsibilities


Desired candidates will possess:
  • Proficiency with reading and interpreting engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and performing calculations,
  • Use of computers in testing and data acquisition,
  • Prepare and write test reports,
  • Superior critical thinking and problem solving skills,
  • Perform prototype unit build-up requiring brazing refrigeration copper tubing, plastic part modification and electrical wiring.


Experience & Education Requirements


Desired candidates will possess:
  • One to three years air conditioning experience, preferred
  • Basic knowledge of refrigeration systems, operation, testing, evacuation and refrigerant reclaim procedures,
  • Familiarity with computers, data collection, and report preparation is required,
  • Fundamentals of electricity, controls, instrumentation and safety,
  • Proficiency reading engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and performing calculations,
  • The ability to perform brazing, soldering, coil fabrication, tube bending, electrical wiring, part modification and prototype air conditioner construction,
  • Associates Degree, preferred; but, equivalent experience will be considered, and
  • The ability to work either shift, if needed.
