For Immediate Release (May 25, 2006) San Antonio, Texas — Friedrich Air Conditioning Company, the San Antonio, Texas-based air conditioning manufacturer, has formally announced the availability of a new line of ZoneAir® portable air conditioners. Portable air conditioners are still relatively unknown to consumers but according to research conducted for AHAM, the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers, there has been a sharp increase in portable purchases by consumers in the last two years.
Portable air conditioners have already gained popularity in commercial and residential applications where they are used both for spot and supplemental cooling. According to company Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Brian Campbell, "The portable product line complements the existing specialty line of air conditioning products offered by Friedrich and there are applications in all of the company's sales channels: retail, HVAC, government, and commercial applications in contract sales. Friedrich customers will embrace portable air conditioners because of their incredible flexibility and simple installation. A portable can be used one day to condition a sun room but tomorrow it can easily be moved to the workshop, basement, attic or garage. In addition, there are many commercial applications for this product in offices, factories, schools, student housing, computer rooms, and other facilities requiring supplemental or emergency cooling."
The units are designed for durability and functionality. Featuring a dehumidification mode, the units can operate as an air conditioner, air circulator, or dehumidifier eliminating the need for redundant appliances.
The Friedrich ZoneAir portable air conditioner is available in both 9000 and 12000 BTU/h capacities. Both models are bucketless with washable filters, auto-swing louvers and full display electronic controls with remote. The P-09 9000 BTU/h model features a fresh air vent and dual hoses. The P-12 12,000 BTU/h model uses a single exhaust hose. Both models plug into standard 115 volt outlet.
