Friedrich Air Conditioning, a manufacturing company headquartered in San Antonio TX, is seeking a design engineer.

Responsibilities:

  • Product design and engineering from concept through product delivery
  • Generate detailed 3D design models, drawings, documents, plans and feasibility studies associated with new product development, improvements, revisions and component changes.
  • Cost studies based on proposed design features for use of various materials and assembly methods.
  • Perform tooling studies to determine optimum method for manufacturing proposed designs.
  • Design parts and assemblies to maximize efficiency and manufacturing throughput.
  • Perform VOC, DFA, DFS, DFM studies.
  • Work with manufacturing engineering in the development of product work instructions and method sheets.
  • Facilitate the implementation of new product designs into the manufacturing environment.

Requirements:

  • Must possess strong aptitude using iterative design and development process with proven background in delivering innovative solutions.
  • Must possess expert level skills and knowledge of 3D Modeling parametric software (Autodesk Inventor is preferred).
  • Must have experience with mechanical and electrical design and a broad knowledge of manufacturing and assembly process.
  • Must possess strong skills related to mechanical assembly, plastics and sheetmetal design, problem solving, engineering change processes, documentation control, and manufacturing implementation support.
  • Experience in residential AC systems, Room AC, PTAC is preferred.
  • Must possess superior project management and organizational skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft products to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering, BSME, or BSEE from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 4 years engineering and technical experience
  • Ability to work with others resources effectively for rapid deployment of project deliverables.
  • Must possess high energy level and have a positive (can do) attitude, with strong follow-through skills.
  • Ability to work and think with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to succeed in a fast paced ever changing environment.
